Worcester, Mass. (October 11) -- Led by a hat trick from junior Kiley Colucci (Gloucester, R.I./St. Mary Academy), the Assumption College field hockey team picked up its first Northeast-10 win of the season with a  convincing 6-1 home victory over Southern New Hampshire. The meeting was the first-ever between the two schools as the Penmen are in their first season as a member of the league's field hockey conference.

Colucci got the Hounds on the board four minutes into the game, collecting the ball around the 20 yard line and dribbling into the circle before firing a blast into the left side of the net for the 1-0 lead. Junior Sarah Frahm (Salem, N.H./Salem) added her first goal of the season less than five minutes later, followed by another Colucci goal into the upper left corner of the net for a 3-0 lead just 13:35 in.

Sophomore Andrea Koslowski (Warren, Mass./Quaboag Regional) continued her solid play with her second goal of the season, taking a pass of a penalty corner before dribbling inside the circle and firing a rocket past Penmen netminder Jill Piacitelli.

After a 4-0 halftime margin, the Penmen got on the board as Alyson Gluck slotted a pass in from the left side to Sarah Gluck, who put home the goal for a 4-1 score. Assumption answered with Colucci scoring her team-leading sixth goal of the season with 23:17 left, followed by a tally from freshman Allison Sheahan (Higganum, Conn./Haddam-Killingworth). The goal was the fourth of the season for Sheahan to lead Hound freshmen and was assisted on by junior Kayla Quinn (Sutton, Mass./Holy Name).

Assumption held a convincing 33-3 edge in total shots and a 13-1 advantage in penalty corners. Senior Lauren Neilan (Mendon, Mass./Nipmuc Regional) picked up the win, while Piacitelli made 13 saves in the loss.

With the win, Assumption improves to 5-3 overall and 1-1 in Northeast-10 play, while the Penmen drop to 1-7 overall and 0-2 in the league.

Assumption is back in action on Sunday, October 12th as the Hounds play host to Dowling College for their final non-conference game of the season. That game begins at 1 p.m. at the Multi-Sport Stadium.
