Worcester, Mass. (October 25) -- On Senior Day at the Multi-Sport Stadium, the Assumption College men's soccer team dropped a 3-2 overtime final to visiting Stonehill College in Northeast-10 Conference action on Saturday afternoon.

Prior to the game, the Hounds honored seniors Matt Flynn (East Falmouth, Mass./Falmouth), Alex Parisi (Methuen, Mass./Central Catholic), Kieran Hillery (Smithfield, R.I./Smithfield) and Troy Lamagna (South Glastonbury, Conn./Glastonbury) for their contributions to the program during their Assumption careers.

In a relatively quiet first half, both teams had a couple of chances before Stonehill converted the game's first goal for the 1-0 edge. Patrick Keogh took a pass from Richard Aprile and fired a shot from 20 yards out inside the right post for his first goal of the season. For the half, Stonehill held a 7-4 edge in overall shots and a 5-3 advantage in corner kick opportunities.

Assumption evened the score at 1-1 with just over 30 minutes left as Parisi blasted a deep shot from the far sideline and into the left side of the net for his first career goal. Stonehill answered less than four minutes later as Tyler Brondyk took the ball from near midfield and scored on a shot from the right side for his third goal of the season and the 2-1 Skyhawk edge.

The Hounds evened the score yet again with just 4:58 remaining in regulation as freshman Dillon Foley (Natick, Mass./Natick) tallied his first career goal to tie the game at 2-2. Foley took a great crossing pass from the left side from Flynn and one-touched the ball in for the score.

The game headed into overtime and in the first extra period, Assumption goalie Dana King (Windham, Maine/Windham) made the initial save on a shot by the Skyhawks. The ball squirted out of King's hands though and onto the foot of senior Zane Stanton, who tapped in the game winner for his first goal of the season and the 3-2 Stonehill victory.

King made four saves for the Hounds in the loss, while Luke Besse stopped three shots in his sixth victory of the year.

For the game, Stonehill held a 14-9 advantage in shots, including a 3-0 edge in overtime. The Skyhawks also had eight corner kick chances, including a trio in the extra period.

With the loss, Assumption drops to 2-10-2 overall and 2-7-2 in Northeast-10 play, while Stonehill improves to 9-5-1 overall and 7-4 in the league as the Skyhawks have won four of their last five.

Assumption is back in action on Tuesday, October 28th as the Hounds travel to the University of New Haven for a 3:30 p.m. start.
