Colchester, Vt. (October 31) -- The Assumption College men's soccer team completed its 2014-15 season on Friday night at Saint Michael's, falling 1-0 on the evening. The Greyhounds finish out the season with a 3-11-2 overall record and a 3-8-2 record in the Northeast-10 Conference.
The Purple Knights improve to 9-8 (5-8 NE-10) with the win.
The Assumption offense got off to a strong start, earning a corner kick opportunity four minutes into the match. Sophomore Matt Gilson (Cumberland, R.I. / Mount Saint Charles Academy) sent a header toward the net, but the shot went wide.
Play throughout the first half remained even. The Purple Knights tallied six shots to Assumption's four in the period and both teams headed to the locker rooms scoreless.
At the 51st minute, Saint Michael's Matt Vlasich netted the only goal of the game for the win.
Both squads notched 10 shots on the day while Hound goalkeeper Dana King (Windham, Maine / Windham) posted two saves.
Assumption held the advantage in corner kicks 5-3.
