- The Lead: The Assumption College field hockey team ran its winning streak to five straight games as the Hounds defeated American International by a 2-0 final on Thursday night in non-conference action at Ronald J. Abdow Field.

HOW IT HAPPENED:

- Senior Kiley Colucci (Gloucester, R.I./St. Mary Academy) fired in a shot from the right side that was tipped in by junior Meghan Sullivan (Worcester, Mass./Notre Dame Academy) for the 1-0 lead with 27:22 left in the first.

- The Hounds' second goal was off a Colucci assist as she played in the ball in the left that was tipped by classmate Maria Beatrice (West Yarmouth, Mass./Dennis-Yarmouth) for the 2-0 final.

- Sophomore Bridget Boyle (Stow, Mass./Nashoba Regional) came out of the net late in the game and made a pair of saves to preserve the shutout victory.

INSIDE THE NUMBERS:

- The Hounds are now on a five-game winning streak, which is the second five-game streak under head coach Annie Lahey. The last five-game winning streak came for Assumption in 2012.

- Assumption held a 19-12 edge in shots for the game, while AIC had a 5-3 advantage in penalty corner chances.

- Boyle made eight saves in net for Assumption in the win, while Taylor Ross had six stops in the loss for American International.

- Colucci ranks among the top three in Assumption history in points, goals and assists in all three categories for the Hounds

UP NEXT:

- The Hounds are back in action on Saturday, October 3rd as the Hounds travel to No. 7 ranked Stonehill for a Noon start at W.B. Mason Stadium. This will be the fifth nationally-ranked opponent for Assumption thus far in 2015.
