- The Lead: No. 7 ranked Assumption ran its winning streak to nine straight with a 4-0 home win over American International on Tuesday afternoon at the Multi-Sport Stadium. In the win, senior All-American Kiley Colucci (Gloucester, R.I./St. Mary Academy) became the all-time leading point scorer in school history with a second-half goal for the Hounds as she now has 93 points.
HOW IT HAPPENED:
- Senior Sarah Frahm (Salem, N.H./Salem) put the Hounds up 1-0 just 9:26 into the game as she took advantage of an AIC turnover and fired a shot into the lower left corner for the lead.
- Junior Megan Sullivan (Worcester, Mass./Notre Dame Academy) tipped in a pass from Frahm that came from just outside the circle for her fourth goal of the season and the 2-0 advantage. Senior Allison Juneau (Auburn, Mass./Auburn) tallied her first goal of the year as she knocked the ball into the open net off an assist by senior Maria Beatrice (West Yarmouth, Mass./Dennis-Yarmouth).
- Colucci picked up the record-setting goal for the Hounds on a penalty stroke as she fired the ball into the upper right corner for the 4-0 advantage.
INSIDE THE NUMBERS:
- Assumption held a commanding 28-4 advantage in shots, including 10-0 in the first half. The Hounds also posted a 16-6 edge in penalty corners, led by a 7-1 margin in the opening period.
- Sophomore Bridget Boyle (Stow, Mass./Nashoba Regional) made four saves in net for Assumption in the win, while Taylor Ross had 12 stops in the loss for the Yellow Jackets.
- Colucci now stands at 93 career points with 33 goals and 27 assists as she broke the record formerly held by AC Hall of Famer Anne Mingolelli `01.
