- The Lead: After a scoreless first half, the No. 9 Assumption field hockey team exploded for four goals in the second half as the Hounds won their eighth straight game in a 4-0 road shutout of Southern New Hampshire University on Wednesday night.

HOW IT HAPPENED:

- Senior Maria Beatrice (West Yarmouth, Mass./Dennis-Yarmouth) put the Hounds up by a 1-0 margin just 3:56 into the second as she knocked home a rebound for her third goal of the season. Senior Taylor Chase (Holden, Mass./Wachusett Regional) added to the lead with just under 20 minutes remaining as she took the pass from senior Kiley Colucci (Gloucester, R.I./St. Mary Academy) for the 2-0 margin. That assist was the 28th of Colucci's career and in the process, Colucci tied the Assumption career point-scoring record with 92 career points.

- Beatrice notched her second goal of the game with 15:57 left as she redirected a shot from senior Sarah Frahm (Salem, N.H./Salem) for the 3-0 edge, forcing an immediate Penmen timeout.

- The final goal of the game came off the stick of sophomore Amanda Frank (Acton, Mass./Acton-Boxborough) as she fired home a pass off a corner by senior Allison Juneau (Auburn, Mass./Auburn) for the 4-0 final.

INSIDE THE NUMBERS:

- The win is the fourth shutout for the Hounds this season, with all four coming during the current eight-game winning streak.

- The team's current eight-game winning streak is the program's first since 1992 and is tied for the third-longest in Assumption field hockey history.

- Assumption outshot SNHU by a 28-5 margin that including a 14-1 first half, along with a commanding 8-4 advantage in penalty corners.

- Sophomore Bridget Boyle (Stow, Mass./Nashoba Regional) made two saves in net for Assumption in the win, while Jill Piacitelli had 12 stops in the loss for the Penmen.

UP NEXT:

- The Hounds are back in action on Tuesday, October 13th as the team hosts American International for a Northeast-10 Conference matchup beginning at 4 p.m.
