THE BASICS:

-Score: Assumption 0, Southern New Hampshire 1

-Records: Assumption (1-3-1, 1-2-0 NE-10); Southern New Hampshire (2-4-1, 2-0-1)

-The Lead: In an extremely tight NE-10 match up on Saturday evening, the Assumption College ice hockey team fell by a final score of 1-0 on the road at Southern New Hampshire. For the second-straight game, senior Alex Erban (Attleboro, Mass. / Mount Saint Charles) led the Hound offense in shots on goal.

HOW IT HAPPENED:

-After an entire period of even, scoreless play, the game-winning goal came midway through the second period. Southern New Hampshire's Jim Gabrione, assisted by Kyle Valliere and Sean McTiernan, found the back of the net at 9:20 for the 1-0 advantage and eventual final.

-Despite a tremendous showing by the Greyhound defense, especially in the third period, the Hound offense was unable to net the equalizer en route to the 1-0 loss.

INSIDE THE NUMBERS:

-The Greyhounds outshot the Penmen 38-26 on the day including a 14-6 advantage in the second period and a 12-9 edge in the third as they attempted to tie the match.

-Junior Nick Commesso (Marshfield, Mass. / The Governor's Academy) posted 25 saves in his 59:42 minutes between the pipes before leaving the net empty in favor of an extra skater with 18 seconds left in the game.

-SNHU's Ryan Slatky turned away all 38 of Assumption's attacks on the day.

-Erban led the Greyhound offense with five shots on goal while senior Brandon Bete (Greenfield, Mass. / Northfield Mount Hermon) and freshman Dante Tomassini (North Branford, Conn. / Trinity Pawling) followed with four. 

-Assumption won 33-of-72 faceoffs on the day, compared to 39 for the Penmen.

-Neither team was able to capitalize on a power play attempt. The Hounds finished 0-for-4 while SNHU went 0-for-2.

UP NEXT:

-Assumption returns to action on Tuesday, Nov. 24, as it hosts Johnson & Wales in non-conference action at the Buffone Arena in Worcester, Mass. at 7:35 p.m. The contest marks the first of three straight home contests as the Hounds are set to host the Worcester City Tournament on Saturday and Sunday, Nov. 28-29.
