No. 10 Women's Basketball Falls to No. 17 Queens, 59-48

- The Lead: On Sunday afternoon in non-conference play, No. 10 ranked Assumption College dropped a 59-48 road final to No. 17/21 ranked Queens College in women's basketball action at Fitzgerald Gymnasium.  

INSIDE THE NUMBERS:

- Senior Ann Marie Idusuyi (Lynn, Mass./St. Mary's) and junior Jaclyn Storey (Cumberland, Maine/Greely) led the Hounds with 11 points each, while senior Kelly Conley (Ellington, Conn./Ellington) posted eight rebounds. Junior Jo Impellizeri (Seaford, N.Y./St. Anthony's) nearly posted a double-double as she had nine points and a game-high 11 rebounds.

- For Queens, Madison Rowland posted a game-high 22 points, while MacKenzie Rowland had a 14-point, 10-rebound double-double.

- Assumption held a 49-34 advantage on the glass, but was held to just 28.3 percent shooting from the field and hit 9-of-16 free throw chances. The Hounds held a 25-19 lead at the halftime break before a 19-8 third quarter put the Knights up 38-33 after three quarters.

- Assumption is ranked No. 10 in the D2SIDA National Poll and is receiving votes in the USA Today Coaches Poll, while Queens is ranked No. 21 in the D2SIDA Poll and is No. 17 in the Coaches Poll. The Hounds are ranked No. 1 in the D2SIDA East Region Poll, while the Knights are tied for the No. 2 spot in the rankings.

HOW IT HAPPENED:

- The Hounds tied the game at 15-15 midway thru the second quarter on a three from junior Allison Stoddard (East Lyme, Conn./East Lyme) and Assumption eventually regained the lead on Storey jumper with 2:53 before the half. A three-point play by Impellizeri with 17 seconds left closed on the first-half scoring as the Hounds held their largest lead to that point at six points.

- Assumption led by as many as eight in the third quarter before Queens tied the game at 30-30 midway thru the period on a free throw from Emer Moloney.

- Madison Rowland put the Knights ahead for good on a layup with 4:43 left in the third that made it 32-30. The lead went into double digits for the first time in the fourth before the Knights came away with the eventual 11-point final.

- Assumption returns to action on Wednesday, December 2nd as the Hounds travel to Southern New Hampshire University for a 5:30 p.m. start at the SNHU Fieldhouse.
