- The Lead: The Assumption College field hockey team jumped out to an early 1-0 lead at Bentley on Friday night before eventually falling by a 2-1 final to the Falcons in the season opener. The game was a non-conference contest and was the opener for both teams.
INSIDE THE NUMBERS:
- Senior Kiley Colucci (Gloucester, R.I./St. Mary Academy), a 2014 Northeast-10 First Team All-Conference selection, got the Hounds on the board just 9:36 into the game for the early 1-0 Assumption lead.
- Senior Allison Juneau (Auburn, Mass./Auburn), who led the Hounds in defensive saves two years ago with seven, posted her first defensive save of the season in the loss to Bentley.
- Sophomore Amanda Frank (Acton, Mass./Acton-Boxborough) picked up her first career point as she assisted on Colucci's goal in the first half.
- Bentley held a 19-9 advantage in total shots, along with a 7-4 edge in penalty corners.
HOW IT HAPPENED:
- Scoring the game winner for Bentley was Kelsey Howard at the 57:33 mark as she put home a crossing pass from Meghan Talerman for her first goal of the year.
- Sophomore Bridget Boyle (Stow, Mass./Nashoba Regional) made nine saves in her first career start for the Hounds in net, while Evelyn Schaedel and Katie Kelley split time in the 2-1 victory. Schaedel played the second half and earned the win.
