HOW IT HAPPENED

-After falling to SNHU in two meetings so far this season, Assumption's offense attacked early to take a 1-0 lead on a goal by freshman Mac Carnes (Farmington, Conn. / Avon Old Farms) at 4:58.

-The Penmen responded nearly six minutes later with a goal from Jim Gabrione before adding two more within one minute (16:14 and 17:03) off the sticks of Devin Murray and Gabrione.

-With the Hounds down 3-1 headed into the second, Assumption's offense came out on fire scoring twice in the first half of the frame. Junior Nick Fenuccio (Keene, N.H. / Keene), who assisted the Hounds' first tally, scored 5:25 into the period, assisted by Carnes to cut the deficit to one, 3-2.

-Junior Stephen Picard (Enfield, Conn. / Loomis Chaffee) found the back of the net just over four minutes later to tie the game at three apiece in the ninth minute of the second period.

-In the third, SNHU reclaimed the lead at 1:30 before Assumption's Brandon Bete (Greenfield, Mass. / Northfield Mount Hermon) tied it up again four minutes later on a power play, assisted by sophomore Matt Cowles (Farmington, Conn. / Avon Old Farms).

-Four minutes later, Bete gained Assumption's first and only lead in the contest with a goal at 9:39 assisted by sophomore Brian Farrell (Island Park, N.Y. / South Kent School).

-With the Hounds in the lead 5-4, SNHU's Joseph Berardi notched his second goal of the game at 13:54 to tie the contest and propel the teams into overtime for the eventual 5-5 final.
