- The Lead: Freshman Christopher Romero ( Easton, Mass. / Oliver Ames) scored the game-tying goal in the 69th minute but the Hounds gave up a goal in the final 20 minutes of regulation, alling 2-1 to Northeast-10 Conference foe Saint Rose on Saturday afternoon.
HOW IT HAPPENED:
- Saint Rose forward Ryan Rooney scored off a penalty kick in the 25th minute to put the Golden Knights up 1-0.
- In the 69th minute Romero evened the scored at 1-1. The freshamn collected a rebound in front of the net following a free kick to earn his first collegiate goal.
- Rooney scored the go ahead goal just six minutes later, when teammate Kyle Clemens made a quick pass from the left side to put him in posisition to shoot.
- In the last seven seconds of the game Assumption defender Connor Henry (Northborough, Mass. / Algonquin Regional) managed to get off a shot but Saint Rose goalkeeper Christian Esposito made the save to preserve the win.
BEHIND THE NUMBERS:
- The Assumption offense outshot the Golden Knights 20-7, also earning six corner kicks to Golden Knights one.
- Simon Trcka (Prague, Czech Republic / Thornton Academy) and Chase Gurcan (Fort Salonga, N.Y. / St. Anthony's) led the Hound offense in shots with four apiece.
-Brian Murray (Camas, Wash./Camas) made one save in the loss while Esposito made 11 to lift his team to victory.
