The Lead: Hound forward Cam Laughlin (Natick, Mass. / Portland Jr. Pirates (USPHL Premier)) notched two goals in the contest, but it was not enough as Franklin Pierce earned a 6-3 victory on Saturday evening.
HOW IT HAPPENED:
- Franklin Pierce got on the board first with a goal from Nick Indelicato, assisted by Nate Indelicato just 5:27 into the first period.
- At 4:55 in the second, Assumption forward
Matt Damelio (Rochester, N.Y./ Northwood (Prep)) tied the game on a power play with an assist from
Dante Tomassini (North Branford, Conn./ Connecticut Jr. Wolfpack(EHL)).
- Just 48 seconds later later Nick Indelicato answered with a power play goal with assists from Blaise Kilroy and Alex Schleper.
- Assumption was back on the power play two minutes later when Laughlin tied the game with assists from
Brian Farrell (Island Park, N.Y./South Kent School (USPHL U18)) and
Robert Roche (Holden, Mass/ Tri City Storm(USHL))- The Hounds gave up a shorthanded goal at 15:42 to Jonathan Haun with and assist from Blake Manginell.
- Raven forward Nate Indelicato tallied the next two goals both assisted by Kyle Gosselin to make the score 5-2 with about ten minutes remaining.
- Laughlin answered, scoring his second goal of the game at 12:58 to bring the Hounds within two, 5-3.
- Raven forward Mathew Toombs registered the last goal of the game on the power play assisted by James Morrissey and Taylor Fletcher to seal the win 6-3.
INSIDE THE NUMBERS:
- The Hounds outshot the Ravens 36-28, and went 3 for 8 on the power play as Franklin Pierce went 2 for 5
- Nick Commesso (Marshfield, Mass./ Walpole Express (AJHL)) made 22 saves in the loss while Franklin Pierce goaltender Tom McGuckin made 33 saves in the win.
