- The Lead: Two unanswered goals in the second period by Mike Sorenti (Sagamore Beach, Mass./ Archbishop Williams (MA HS)) and Tommy Mahoney (Braintree, Mass./ Boston Bandits (EHL)) led the Hounds to a 3-2 victory over NE10 rival Stonehill on Saturday evening. 

HOW IT HAPPENED 

- In the first 31 seconds of the first period the Skyhawks forward Connor Cassidy netted a goal off a pass from Jack Hall and Connor Tedesco to make the score 1-0. 

- Assumption tied the game 1-1 when Matt Cowles (Farmington Conn./ Avon Old Farms (Prep)) and Mac Carnes (Farmington, Conn./ Springfield Pics (USPHL Premier)) found Paul Amarone (Hamden, Conn. / Trinity-Pawling (Prep)) open in the slot to sneak a shot into the lower right corner past Stonehill goaltender Billy Palmer. 

- Just before the end of the first period, with 2:50 left, Hall scored with assists from Tommy Newton and Cassidy. 

- Only 17 seconds into the second period Sorenti tied the game 2-2 with an assist from Brian Farrell (Island Park, N.Y./ South Kent School (USPHL U18)) and Robert Roche (Holden Mass./ Tri City Storm(USHL)).

- The Hounds tallied the go ahead goal at 9:15 of the third. The play started as Amarone was released from the penalty box and rushed the puck forward to find Mahoney open in the slot, who scored on the backhand for the 3-2 advantage.

- Neither team could break through in the final period. Stonehill made one last-ditch effort to draw even, pulling its goalie with just 92 seconds left, however, the Hound defense came up big to clinch the victory.

INSIDE THE NUMBERS

- The Hounds outshot the Skyhawks 17-11 in the third, but overall Stonehill outshot Assumption 53-52. 

- Stonehill went 0-for-6 on the powerplay while Assumption went 1-for-6. 

- Goaltender Brian Nazzaro (Briantree, Mass. Walpole Express (EHL)) made a career-high 51 saves in his third win of the season, while Palmer made 49 in the loss.
