THE BASICS:
- The Lead: Setting three school records over the two-day Northeast-10 Outdoor Track and Field Championship, the Assumption College men's track and field team finished 10th out of 11 teams with a total of 25 points.
HOW IT HAPPENED:
- On Friday afternoon, sophomore Alex Cerbo (Cranston, R.I./Bishop Hendricken) finished second in the hammer throw with a toss of 174 feet, eight inches as he broke the school record by a nearly six-foot margin.
- The final two records came on Saturday as graduate student Eddy Frazier (Worcester, Mass./Burncoat) jumped 46 feet, six inches to beat the record by nine and a half inches. Sophomore Luares Tavares (Taunton, Mass./Taunton) finished seventh to score as well with a leap of 45 feet, 2.5 inches.
- In the 4x400, the Hounds picked up another school record as Butler, Frazier, Tavares and sophomore Jeremy Alley-Tarter (Oak Bluffs, Mass./Martha's Vineyard) ran 3:25.30 to break the previous mark by two and a half seconds and place ninth overall. On Friday, sophomore Joseph Bretta (Westborough, Mass./Westborough) finished in seventh place in the javelin as he threw 167 feet, five inches to score for the Hounds.
- In individual competitions on Saturday, the Hounds earned points in the shot put and the 100 meters as Cerbo and junior Darnell Butler (Hudson, Mass./Hudson) each scored. Cerbo was eighth in the shot put at 43 feet, 5.25 inches and Butler placed seventh in the 100-meter finals at 11.34 seconds.
- The Hounds also scored in the 4x100 relay in a time of 42.43 as the squad of Frazier, sophomore Tyis Boykin (Worcester, Mass./St. Peter-Marian), Tavares and Butler placed fourth.

- Assumption is back in action on Friday-Saturday, May 13-14 at the NEICAAA Outdoor Championship at Southern Connecticut State University.
