THE BASICS

The Lead: Assumption fell behind 2-1 early in the second half but responded with three unanswered goals to earn their first victory of the season, 4-2 over St. Thomas Aquinas on the road Saturday afternoon.

HOW IT HAPPENED 

- St. Thomas Aquinas scored on its second shot of the contest, at 20:13, to grab a 1-0 lead

- The Hounds responded as they didn't allow another shot in the period and accumulated four penalty corners before Belle Ives (Topsfield, Mass. / Masconomet Regional) scored off an assist from Amanda Frank (Acton, Mass. / Acton-Boxborough) to even the score 1-1.

- The Spartans took back the lead in the 44th minute of play, as Jaqueline Dowling scored to make it 2-1.

- Ives responded just three minutes later as Allison Sheahan (Higganum, Conn. / Haddam-Killingworth) found her in front to even the score 2-2.

- Sheahan gave Assumption its first lead of the game just minutes after the Hounds tied it up, stealing the ball and then beating the goal one-on-one to make it 3-2 at 48:35.

- Sam Tepper (Higganum, Conn. / Haddam-Killingworth) gave the Hounds some breathing room with just 10:41 left in regulation as Ashley Lockwood (Feeding Hills, Mass. / Agawam) dished her a pass on the right side in front of the net. 

INSIDE THE NUMBERS

- Assumption had a dominant 25-4 advantage in shots, and also recorded 18 penalty corners to just one for the Spartans

- Five different Hounds recorded a point in the contest, led by Ives with two goals, while Sheahan had one goal and one assist.

- St. Thomas Aquinas goalie Jessica Stewart made 14 saves while allowing all four Assumption goals. The Hounds' Sarah Bodzinski (Southwick, Mass. / Southwick Tolland Regional) recorded one save with two goals allowed.
