The Lead: Although the game remained scoreless in the first half, a goal from freshman Jason Lages (Edgartown, Mass./ Martha's Vineyard) in the 61st minute led the Hounds to their second victory of the season.
HOW IT HAPPENED:
- Lages made a move around a defender after a pass from teammate Ethan Morrow (Huntington Beach, Calif. / Fountain Valley) to score the first and only goal in the game.
- Hounds defense kept the Hawks from scoring with aggressive play while goalkeeper Brian Murray (Camas, Wash./Camas) earned his first shutout as a Hound.
- The Hawks kept the pressure on with many shots late in the second half. The Hounds were able to keep them at bay even though they played a man down due to a red card over the final six minutes.
INSIDE THE NUMBERS:
- Lages led the team in shots with nine overall, while also scoring his fourth goal of the season.
- Assumption's offense totaled 17 shots, while the Hawks totaled 12.
- The Hounds' goalkeeper Murray recorded three saves in the shutout victory, while Hawks goalkeeper Stephen McLeod tallied six saves in his second loss of the season.
