- The Lead: The Assumption offense came out firing with five goals in the opening 20 minutes on the way to an 11-0 win over Southern Connecticut, with seven different scorers, to secure the team's second win in the Northeast-10.
HOW IT HAPPENED:
-Senior Meghan Sullivan (Worcester, Mass. Notre Dame Academy)scored just 1:17 into the contest and had her first hat trick of the 2016 season, with two first half goals and one second half goal.
- Belle Ives (Topsfield, Mass./ Masconomet Regional) and Lauren Giard (Worcester, Mass. Burncoat) each scored twice and added an assist, with Ives's back-to-back goals pushing the lead to 4-0 at 20:01.
- Junior Lyndsey Gabrielian (Auburn, Mass./ Auburn) added a goal and one assist in the second half off the bench.
- Sophomore Katie Montminy (Londonderry, N.H./ Londonderry) added a goal in the 60th minute when teammate Mariah Peck (Suffield, Conn./ Suffield) set her up for a shot off of a penalty corner to stretch the lead to 9-0.
INSIDE THE NUMBERS:
- The Hound offense opened the scoring in the second minute of the game. They scored 11 goals in total on 21 shots while limiting Southern Connecticut to just six total shots in the contest.
- Freshmen Kristen McCarthy (Danvers, Mass./ Danvers), Nicole McMorrow (Milfor, N.H./Milford), and Sam Tepper (Stroudsburg, Pa./ Stroudsburg) each contributed to the offense. McCarthy added two assists, McMorrow added a goal, and Tepper had an assist.
- Sarah Bodzinski (Southwick, Mass./ Southwick Tolland Regional) earned the win for the Hounds with three saves, while Southern Connecticut goaltender Brianna Craft took the loss with nine saves and seven goals allowed in 58:40.
