THE BASICS:

- The Lead: The Assumption College men's soccer team fell behind 1-0 early, but asnwered in a big with the final five goals of the contest to remainin unbeaten at home and improve to 3-2 in the Northeast-10 with a 5-1 win over Stonehill on Tuesday evening.

HOW IT HAPPENED:

- Assumption went down 1-0 just ten minutes into the first half as Skyhawk Keegan Nutt fired a shot that richoched off the cross bar and Mathew Mesiti was there to clean it up for the 1-0 lead.

- The Hounds were relentless offensively after the Stonehill goal, and in the 36th minute mark broke through as Matt Gilson (Cumberland, R.I. / Mount Saint Charles Academy) scored on a pass into the box from teammate Simon Trcka (Prague, Czech Republic/ Thornton Acad).

- Just four minutes later Trcka got in on the action as he ripped a shot from 35 yards the skimmed the bottom of the crossbar before Skyhawk goalkeeper Conor McDonough could get a hand on it.

- Johnny Aviza (Medway, Mass./ Medway) added the third Hound goal in the 57th minute, and Jason Lages (Edgartown, Mass. / Martha's Vineyard Regional) stretched the lead to 4-0 less than a minute later. Madison Barnwell (Quincy, Mass. / Boston College HS) scored the final goal in the game  in the 77th minute for the four-goal victory.

INSIDE THE NUMBERS

- Hound goalkeeper Brian Murray (Camas Wash./ Camas) had four saves in his 77 minutes of play, including a save on a penalty shot, before Matthew Skydel (Cheshire, Conn./ Cheshire) took over for the remaining 13 minutes on action. McDonough made five saves and was charged with the loss for Stonehill.

- Assumption totaled 17 shots and four corner kicks while Stonehill had ten shots and six corner kicks.

- The three conference wins for Assumption has already surpassed their total from a season ago, and they have outscored NE-10 opponents 9-5 through five conference contests.
