THE BASICS:

The Lead: It was even 15 apiece through one quarter, but Assumption outscored Saint Rose 34-19 over the next two periods to pull away for their ninth win in the last ten contests, 69-46 on Wednesday evening.

HOW IT HAPPENED:

- Assumption trailed 6-3 early, before Allison Stoddard (East Lyme, Conn. / East Lyme) connected on a triple to tie it 6-6 at 6:56. The teams traded baskets over the next two minutes, before four straight gave Saint Rose a 15-11 lead with 43 seconds left. Kiera O'Donnell (Cheshire, Conn. / Holy Cross) pulled her team within two and then after drawing an offensive foul, Stoddard drove the length of the court in five seconds to get off a foul-line jumper as time expired for a 15-15 score.

- The Hounds opened the second quarter on a 12-2 run over the first 3:28 of the period, before the Golden Knights were able to stop it. At 4:13, Shayla Hubbard (Laconia, N.H. / New Hampton Prep) drained a shot from downtown to extend the lead to 35-24, starting an 8-0 spurt for a 42-24 advantage with 1:40 left. Saint Rose scored once over the final 100 seconds for a 16-point Hound lead at the break.

- Assumption extended its lead to 19 two minutes into the period and then pushed it to 58-32 on a 10-3 run, punctuated by a Stoddard triple. The Golden Knights managed one basket in the final two minutes to go into the fourth trailing 58-34. The teams traded baskets through the fourth, with both teams subbing liberally as the Hounds came away with the 23-point victory.

INSIDE THE NUMBERS:

- Assumption shot 45.8 percent from the floor in the contest and was an impressive 9 of 19 from beyond the arc. Defensively, the team held Saint Rose to just 34.1 percent shooting and a 1 of 8 performance from downtown.

- The Hounds also held a 38-28 rebounding edge and outscored the Golden Knights' bench 26-7.

- Stoddard paced the team with 13 points and two assists while Jo Impellizeri (Seaford, N.Y. / St. Anthony's) did a bit of everything with 13 points five rebounds, five assists and one block. Morgan O'Donnell (Easton, Mass. / Ursuline Academy) provided ten points and five rebounds off the bench.

- The Golden Knights' Taylor Nazon scored 13 points and grabbed three rebounds.
