The Lead: Amherst College led 3-0 after one period and a late second period goal by forward  Sam Kelly (Enfield, Conn./Kingswood Oxford (Prep)) was the only Hound goal as Assumption fell 10-1 to Amherst on Saturday evening.

HOW IT HAPPENED

- At 15:13 Amherst tallied their first goal when Jack Fitzgerald scored off an assist from Mark Esposito and Austin Ho.

- Amherst forward Chris Roll scored the next two goals for the Purple and White to make the lead 3-0 at the end of the first.

- Just 17 seconds into second David White scored and John Festa would score shortly after to increase the lead to 5-0.

- At 8:28 sophomore forward Sam Kelly (Enfield, Conn./Kingswood Oxford (Prep)) scored the lone Hound goal assisted by Nick Fenuccio (Keene, N.H./Richmond Generals (MJHL)) as they headed into the third 5-1.

- The Purple and White scored five unanswered goals in the third period to end the game 10-1.

INSIDE THE NUMBERS

- Amherst outshot Assumption 50-29 as they went 2 for 5 on the powerplay.

- Hound goaltener Nick Commesso (Marshfield,Mass./Walpole Express (AJHL)) 15 saves in the loss while goaltender David Zulauf (Rochester, Mich. / Bridgton Academy (Prep)) made 17 saves and Robbie Campbell (Raritan, N.J. / New England Stars (NA3EHL)) made eight saves in his relief effort
