THE BASICS:

The Lead: After trailing for much of the game, Assumption went on a 9-1 run in the final two minutes to pull within two, 44-42, but Le Moyne made its free throws down the stretch to escape with a 48-42 win and snap the Hounds' eight-game win streak on Saturday afternoon.

HOW IT HAPPENED:

- Assumption led 3-2 in the opening minute, but a 9-2 run gave Le Moyne an 11-5 lead with 3:49 left in the period. The Hounds scored the final three points of the period to trail 11-8.

- In the second, Assumption pulled within one on a triple by Kelly Carey (Long Beach, N.Y. / Holy Trinity) at 8:26 before ten straight points by the Dolphins gave them a 21-10 lead. The teams traded points over the final four minutes of the half as the home team led 24-18 at the half.

- Le Moyne kept Assumption at bay in the third and stretched its lead to 11, 33-22, at 2:22. However, a 5-2 run by the Hounds kept them within eight entering the third. The Dolphins let their lead fall to four early in the fourth, before going on a 6-0 run and holding the Hounds scoreless for over five minutes.

- Jo Impellizeri (Seaford, N.Y. / St. Anthony's) finally ended the run to trim the deficit to 43-35 at 2:01 on a left-handed layup. Allison Stoddard (East Lyme, Conn. / East Lyme) followed with a free throw after a steal and then Impellizeri made a layup to cut it to 43-38. The run kept going and two free throws by Stoddard closed it two just 44-42 with 18 seconds left. However, Le Moyne went 4-for-4 from the line in the final 15 seconds to earn the six-point win.

INSIDE THE NUMBERS:

- Assumption shot just 29.4 percent from the floor in the contest and was 5 of 23 from beyond the arc, but did hold Le Moyne to 32.1 percent shooting and a tough 3 of 17 from downtown.

- The Hounds held a 38-36 rebounding edge, but committed 22 turnovers and had 12 points from its bench.

- Carey led the Hounds with 15 points, three rebounds and two assists while Impellizeri added six points, nine rebounds and two assists. Abby McKanna (Narragansett, R.I. / Narragansett) added five points and four rebounds off the bench, and Morgan O'Donnell (Easton, Mass. / Ursuline Academy) supplied five points, six rebounds and two assists..

- McKayla Roberts did a bit of everything, posting ten points, three rebounds, three assists and two steals.
