The Lead: Stonehill scored three unanswered first-half goals to lead them to a 4-0 victory over Assumption on Wednesday evening at home.
HOW IT HAPPENED:
- Stonehill took a 3-0 lead in the first half. Just 5:25 in Kacie Smith scored the first Skyhawk goal. With five minutes left in the half Stonehill extended their lead to 3-0 when Smith registered another goal and dished an assist to Alexandria Slyvia.
- With 16:13 left in the second half the Skyhawks scored their fourth goal after being awarded a penalty corner. Michaela Antonellis set up Smith for her third of the game.
- In the last five minutes of the game the Hounds offense produced six consecutive penalty corners but Skyhawk goaltender Sara Freedman held on to her shutout to end the game 4-0.
INSIDE THE NUMBERS:
- Hounds goaltender Sarah Bodzinski (Southwick, Mass./Tolland Regional) made eight saves in the loss while Freedman made 10 saves in the win.
- The Assumption recorded 12 penalty corners and 17 shots while the Stonehill tallied seven corners and 18 shots.
