Lead: After being down 1-0 in the second period, the Assumption men's ice hockey team scored three consecutive goals to eventually defeat Framingham 4-2 on Tuesday evening in non-conference action.
HOW IT HAPPENED:
- The game remained scoreless throughout the first period while both teams tallied ten shots.
- Just 54 seconds into the second period, Framingham broke the tie when Brandon Hamner scored a goal assisted by Matt Siegel and Ryan Paul.
- At 11:39, senior Cam Laughlin (Natick, Mass. / Portland Jr. Pirates (USPHL Premier)) had an open lane on the right side and beat Greg Harney over the shoulder off a pass from linemate Peter McDonagh (Latrobe, Pa./Boston Jr. Bruins (USPHL Elite)).
- After the Hounds were awarded a power play, junior Matt Damelio (Rochester, N.Y. / Northwood (Prep)) and Laughlin drew the Harney to the right and found senior Brian Farrell (Island Park, N.Y./ South Kent School (USPHL Elite)) across the crease to take the 2-1 lead.
- Assumption scored their third straight goal with 1:36 left to extend the lead to 3-1. Damelio netted a goal which was assisted by Farrell and Laughlin.
- The Rams came within one with 14:19 left in the third, when Jack Sheehan picked up a rebound in front of the net off a shot from Brian Raimo.
- In attempt to tie the game the Rams pulled Harney, but Farrell registered his second goal of the night scoring on the open net to end the game 4-2.
INSIDE THE NUMBERS:
- Assumption outshout the Rams 39-36 and went 1-for-3 on the power play while Framingham did not capitalize on the man advantage.
