THE BASICS:

The Lead: Assumption trailed for most of Wednesday's game before rallying to tie the game in the final minute, however, Southern New Hampshire connected on a three with just 0.1 seconds left to escape with a 56-53 win at home.

HOW IT HAPPENED:

- The Hounds jumped out to a 9-3 lead at 6:49 on a layup by Jo Impellizeri (Seaford, N.Y. / St. Anthony's), however, SNHU responded with the next 12 points to take a 15-9 lead. Jaclyn Storey (Cumberland, Maine / Greely) finally ended the drought for a 15-11 deficit through one.

- Storey scored on a three-point play to open the second and the Hounds took an 18-17 lead at 2:58 off an Allison Stoddard (East Lyme, Conn. / East Lyme) layup. The Penmen countered with a 6-4 run to end the period for a 23-22 advantage at the half.

- The SNHU extended its lead to 34-28 four minutes into the third, but five straight points from Impellizeri pulled Assumption within one. Storey eventually tied the game at 37 apiece with 1:12 left and it stayed that way going into the fourth.

- The Hounds started the final period slow, before four straight points tied the game at 41-41 with 6:22 remaining. Stoddard gave Assumption a quick lead but the team's traded baskets over the next five minutes. Down by two with 1:30 left, Impellizeri made a layup to tie the game at 53 apiece. Neither team was able to score on its following possession and then with the final seconds winding down, Sara Ryan hit a three in the corner with 0.1 seconds left for the game-winner.

INSIDE THE NUBMERS:

- Assumption shot 35.1 percent in the contest while going just 1 of 12 from downtown and 12-for-19 from the free throw line. SNHU, meanwhile, shot 42.3 percent and was 5-for-15 on three-point attempts.

- The Hounds held a 39-34 rebounding edge and scored 20 points off turnovers.

- Stoddard scored a game-high 21 points with five rebounds and three assists while Impellizeri was the only other starter to score, finishing with 19 points and nine rebounds. Storey added 11 points and two rebounds off the bench.

- Kylie Lorenzen led the Penmen with 19 points, seven rebounds and two assists while Victoria Dean added 10.
