THE BASICS:

The Lead: Hound goaltender Nick Commesso (Marshfield, Mass./ Walpole Express (AJHL)) made 54 saves to lead Assumption to a 1-1 tie against Stonehill on Saturday night. 

HOW IT HAPPENED:

- The Skyhawk got on the board first when freshman forward Connor Cassidy scored an unassisted goal to make the score 1-0 heading into the second.  

- The Hounds tied the game 1-1 at 3:33 in the second when Cam Laughlin (Natick, Mass./Portland Jr. Pirates (USPHL Premier) scored on the power play assisted by Matt Cowles (Farmington, Conn./Avon Old Farms (Prep) and Dante Tomassini (North Branford, Conn./Connecticut Jr. Wolfpack (EHL).

- Neither team was able to score through the third period or overtime play. The Skyhawk offense tallied 18 shots in the third period but Hound goaltender Nick Commesso (Marshfield, Mass./ Walpole Express (AJHL)) was impenetrable. 

INSIDE THE NUMBERS:

- Assumption went 1 for 3 on the power play while Stonehill went 0 for 2. 

- Commesso made 54 saves in the tie while Billy Palmer made 40.
