THE BASICS:

-Score: Saint Michael's 2, Assumption 1

-Records: Assumption (3-5, 1-2 NE10), Saint Michael's (3-4, 1-2 NE10)

-Location: Colchester, Vermont

-The Lead: The Hounds scored an early first half goal to take a 1-0 lead, but the Purple Knights scored two unanswered goals to defeat Assumption 2-1 in a NE10 Conference match-up on Saturday afternoon.  

HOW IT HAPPENED:

- In the first five minutes of the half, freshman Shannon Quinlan (Williamsville, N.Y./Williamsville North) tipped in a pass from the left side from senior Allison Sheahan (Higganum, Conn. /Haddam-Killingworth) to take an early 1-0 lead.

- The Hounds defense held the Purple Knights scoreless in the first half, but Saint Michael's scored two unanswered goals in the second half to defeat Assumption. Just 2:25 into the the second half, Jenna Deschaine picked up a loose ball in the circle and shot it past Hounds goaltender Sarah Bodzinski (Southwick, Mass./ Southwick Tolland Regional) to tie the game 1-1.

- Deschaine scored her second goal of the game to break the tie with 12:58 left in the game. She tipped in a hard pass into the circle to take the 2-1 lead and win the game for the Purple Knights. 

INSIDE THE NUMBERS:

- In the first half Assumption outshot Saint Michael's 4-3, while in the second half the Purple Knights recorded eight shots and did not allow one. 

- Bodzinski made seven saves in the loss while Anna Hurley made no saves in the win to imporve her record to 3-4.
