THE BASICS:

- The Lead: Assumption received goals from Dierdre Burchill (Braintree, Mass./Braintree), Isabel Primack (Ipswich, Mass./Ipswich), and Lucy Malia (Scarborough, Maine/Scarborough) to take down No. 8 Pace in the team's home opener on beautiful Saturday afternoon. 

HOW IT HAPPENED:

- The first goal of the game came from Pace's Samantha Gray in the 16th minute of play. Assumption answered quickly in the 19th minute with a goal from Burchill that was knocked around in front of the net before being put past Setter goalkeeper, Grace Henderson.

- The Hounds earned a penalty corner with nine seconds remaining in the first half to set up their final goal. Malia sent the ball to the top and Alexa Mulvihill (Westbrook, Conn./Westbrook) slipped the pass to the right to Primack, who sent the shot just left of the goalie and into the cage.

- The Hounds earned came a penalty stroke at 52:15 when Henderson was ruled on top of the ball in front of the net. Malia took the penalty stroke and shot it to the bottom left of the cage right past the goalkeeper to score the final goal of the game.

INSIDE THE NUMBERS:

- Assumption's Sarah Bodzinski (Southwick, Mass./Southwick Tolland) got the win with five saves while Pace's Henderson had 11 saves. Kolby Burger (Killingworth Conn./Haddam Killingworth) recorded two defensive saves.

- The Hounds were outshot in the first half (8-7), but came back strong in the second half to outshoot the Setters 17-3.

- Assumption also led the game in penalty corners (18-4) with nine corners in each half.
