Box Score

Ben Barton

THE BASICS:

- Score: Assumption 3, Franklin Pierce 3 (OT)

- Records: Assumption (10-5-1, 3-4-1 NE10), Franklin Pierce (7-8-1, 2-3-1 NE10)

- Location: Worcester, Mass. (Buffone Arena)

- The lead: A late goal by Franklin Pierce's Chris Stevenson with just 1:10 left to play sent Tuesday's game into overtime and an eventual 3-3 tie between the Assumption Greyhounds and the Franklin Pierce Ravens at Buffone Arena.

HOW IT HAPPENED:

-Playing with a 6-on-5 advantage, the Ravens gathered in a loose puck while Stevenson sent a shot at Assumption goalie David Zulauf (Rochester, Mich. / Bridgton Academy (Prep)). Zulauf got a piece of the puck but it found a way to trickle in regardless of Zulauf's attempt, which tied the game at three with just 1:10 left to play. The Hounds held a 4-to-1 shot advantage in overtime but played to an eventual 3-3 tie.

-The Hounds went up 3-2 just 4:21 prior to the play. While on the power play, Matt Damelio (Rochester, N.Y. / Northwood (Prep)) gathered in a rebound off the back boards and sent it home to give the Hounds the 3-2 lead.

-Franklin Pierce tied the game at two earlier in the period. At the 8:24 mark, Justin Blanchette scored on the power play to even the game at two.

-Devan Sheth (Ashland, Mass. / Islanders Hockey Club (USPHL Premier)) scored on the power play to put the Hounds up 2-1 at the 12:16 mark of the second period. Sheth made his way to the front of the net and came away with the puck after a bad clear by the Ravens. He blistered a shot past Franklin Pierce goalie Ian Wallace for his seventh overall and second power play goal of the season.

-The Ravens took an initial 1-0 lead at the 8:39 mark of the first period. As his team's first shot on net, Blanchette sent the puck through the five-hole of Zulauf to score his third goal of the season. Zulauf did get a piece of it, but couldn't make the full stop. The Hounds quickly responded with a goal at the 11:32 mark from Michael Zampanti (Winthrop, Mass. / Islanders Hockey Club (USPHL Premier)). Zampanti found himself wide-open in the left slot. After getting a clean pass from teammate John Pigott (Arlington, Mass. / Tilton School (Prep)), Zampanti sent it into the low post to tie the game at one.
