- The Lead: The Le Moyne Dolphins struck first at the 11:08 mark and didn't look back, defeating the Assumption Greyhounds 3-1 on Saturday evening at the Multi-Sport Stadium.
HOW IT HAPPENED:
-Goran Naric and Tom Henne each had one goal and one assist for the Dolphins. Naric assisted Henne on the team's first goal of the game and then Henne assisted Naric at the 63:48 mark to put the Dolphins up by two, 3-1.
-Robert Rohrhirsch scored in-between, putting his team up 2-0 at the 25:13 mark on an intercepted ball almost inside the box. Jamison Magowan (Pawcatuck, Conn. / Stonington) was able to quickly bring the game back within one however when, at the 38:46 mark, he got a ball from teammate Alex Moschella (Miller Place, N.Y. / Miller Place) and drove it home for his first collegiate goal.
INSIDE THE NUMBERS:
-Le Moyne held an 18-14 advantage in shots, but the Hounds did outshoot them eight to five in the second half. They also produced five corner kicks to Le Moyne's three in the second half, while Le Moyne held the 7-6 advantage in the game.
-The Hounds also out possessed Le Moyne, holding a 56% to 44% advantage in time of possession.
-Magowan's goal was his first of his collegiate career. He previously assisted the game-winner back on September 25 in his team's 3-2 win over Southern N.H. as his first collegiate assist and point.
-Saturday's game also marked the end to Jason Lages' (Edgartown, Mass. / Martha's Vineyard Regional) consecutive point streak, adding at least one point in each of his last six games.
-Sebastian Jimenez (Naples, Fla. / Gulf Coast High School) made eight saves in the loss, falling to 6-5-0 on the year. Josh Mahr made seven saves for the Dolphins and improved to 7-4-0.
