THE BASICS:

- The Lead: Caldwell jumped out to an early lead before the Hounds fought back and took the lead before the first quarter ended and held the lead the remainder of the game to take home the 52-38 road win.

HOW IT HAPPENED:

- Caldwell was the first on the board with five consecutive points before Ja'lyn Armstrong (Baltimore, Md./Institute of Notre Dame) scored for the Hounds to get within three. The Hounds later went on a 5-0 run themselves to tie the game at nine apiece followed by a three from Emme Poulin (South Portland, Maine/Cheverus High School) for Assumption to take their first lead of the game (12-9) with 2:42 left in the first quarter. The Cougars answered with a quick two and a free throw to tie the game again at 12 only for Meghan Reen (Norwood, Mass./Norwood) and Caterina Fonseca (Enfield, Conn./Enfield High School) to both put the ball through the net for the Hounds to lead 16-12 after the first quarter.

- Assumption kept their momentum to start the second quarter with five-straight points to take their largest lead of the game (21-12) with 8:03 left to play in the first half. After a free throw from Caldwell, the Hounds put together a 4-0 run to take a 25-13 lead before the Cougars ended the quarter with a 4-0 run themselves. The Hounds led the Cougars 25-17 headed into halftime.

- Caldwell scored the first point of the second half and Katherine Golden (Millis, Mass./Millis) answered for the Hounds with a foul shot and a layup to keep the Hounds in the lead 28-18. Armstrong scored the next four points for the Hounds for a 12-point lead (32-20) with 5:16 left in the third quarter. The two teams traded baskets the remainder of the quarter with Brittani Leblanc (Townsend, Mass./North Middlesex Regional) ending the quarter with a pair of free throws with six seconds left to give Assumption the 11-point lead (38-27) headed into the final ten minutes of play.

- The fourth quarter started the same way the third ended with back-and-forth scoring before the Hounds strung together a 5-0 run led by Brianna Capacchione (Washington Township, N.J./Washington Township) and Monica Spain (Braintree, Mass./Archbishop Williams). Caldwell answered with a free throw before the back-and-forth scoring was back. The Cougars ended the game with four-straight points to get within 14 (52-38) but ran out of time so the Hounds earned the road win.

INSIDE THE NUMBERS:

-  Armstrong led the Hounds with ten points, three steals, three assists and four rebounds while Capacchione, Golden and Temi Falayi (Peabody, Mass./St. Mary's) all earned eight points. Falayi had a career-high 16 rebounds on the night while Reen led with five assists.

- The Hounds shot 35.0 percent from the floor, 19.0 percent from three and 60.0 percent from the foul line while recording 38 rebounds, 15 assists and eight steals.

- The Cougars ended the game shooting 27.9 percent from the field, 8.3 percent from three and 65.0 percent from the charity stripe while also adding 41 rebounds, five assists and three steals.
