THE BASICS:

- The Lead: Ja'Lyn Armstrong (Baltimore, Md./Institute of Notre Dame) leads the Hounds to a 69-61 conference road win with her first career double-double.

HOW IT HAPPENED:

-  Armstrong started off the scoring for the Hounds under a minute into play before the Hounds went on a 4-0 run to take a 6-2 lead over the Purple Knights. Saint Michael's answered with a three only for Monica Spain (Braintree, Mass./Archbishop Williams) to knock down a three herself just 18 seconds later. With 3:18 left in the first quarter, Assumption put together a 9-0 run to take a ten-point lead (20-10). Armstrong ended the first quarter for the Hounds with an and-one to earn Assumption their largest lead of the game (23-12).

- The second quarter started off with back-and-forth action before the Purple Knights strung together a 6-0 run to get within seven with 5:23 left to play in the half. Brianna Capacchione (Washington Township, N.J./Washington Township) scored the next four points for the Hounds only for Saint Michael's to answer with a 5-0 run to get within five with just 2:43 left in the half. Both teams scored a basket before time ran out, leaving Assumption with a five-point lead (36-31) headed into halftime.

- The Hounds kept their momentum headed into the third quarter, coming out to score the first three points of the second half from Temi Falayi (Peabody, Mass./St. Mary's). Two Armstrong free throws paired with a Cappachione three later put the Hounds back ahead by 11 (44-33) with just 8:05 left in the quarter, forcing the Purple Knights into a timeout. The Purple Knights hit a three right out of the timeout only to be answered by a Falayi layup. The Hounds later went on a 4-0 run to take their lead back to 11 (50-39). With 2:51 left in the third quarter, Saint Michael's scored four straight points to get within seven (52-45) and scored the final four points of the quarter to get back within five (54-49) with just 10 minutes left to play.

- The first two minutes of the fourth quarter were scoreless as the defensives took their level of pay up a notch. The Hounds were the first to get on the board with a Capacchione jump shot. The Purple Knights answered with two sets of free throws to get the lead down to three (56-53) with just 6:18 left in the game. Meghan Reen (Norwood, Mass./Norwood) had an and-one to get the Hounds back up by six (59-53) before the Purple Knights drained a three with 4:22 left to play. Assumption responded with a 7-0 run to get back up by ten (66-56) with 2:40 on the clock. Anna Shaughnessy (Attleboro Falls, Mass./Bishop Feehan) scored the final three points for Assumption before Saint Michael's made a three with just 12 seconds on the clock. The Purple Knights ran out of time and Assumption solidified the 69-61 conference win.

INSIDE THE NUMBERS:

-  Capacchione led the Hounds with 19 points while also adding six rebounds, four assists and one block while Armstrong recorded her first Assumption double-double with 17 points and ten rebounds. Both Shaughnessy and Falayi put up nine points and nine rebounds while Reen earned five assists.

- The Hounds shot 37.1 percent from the floor, 33.3 percent from beyond the arc and 81.3 percent from the foul line while collecting 52 rebounds, 13 assists, three steals and four blocks.

- Saint Michael's Nicole Anderson put up 23 points to be the leading scorer of the game while the Purple Knights shot 31.9 percent from the field, 29.6 percent from three and 90.0 percent from the free throw line. The Purple Knights also added 39 rebounds, 13 assists, seven steals and six blocks in the game.
