Box Score

THE BASICS:

- Score: Assumption 3, Southern N.H. 2

- Records: Assumption (5-1-0, 3-0-0 NE10), Southern N.H. (2-3-1, 0-2-0 NE10)

- Location: Worcester, Mass. (Multi-Sport Stadium)

- The Lead: Nicolas Cardona (San Juan, P.R. / Academia del Perpetuo Socorro / DePaul) headed the game-winner and the Assumption Greyhounds scored two second-half, unanswered goals to defeat the Southern N.H. Penmen 3-2, tying the program's all-time win streak of five games.

HOW IT HAPPENED:

-With less than 10 minutes to play in the second-half, Jeremy Martin (Hopedale, Mass. / Hopedale) possessed the ball in the lower left corner. He put the ball into the front of the net, where Cardona got his head on the ball and put it home to give the Hounds their 3-2 lead.

-Cardona's goal marked two unanswered goals in the second half for the Hounds. Mauro Cortez (Providence, R.I. / La Salle Academy) scored at the 60:03 mark for the first of the team's two unanswered, tying the game at two. He got ahold of a rebound from teammate Alex Moschella (Miller Place, N.Y. / Miller Place) and sent it into the top corner of the net for the score.

-Assumption also began the game up 1-0 thanks to a goal at the 12:45 mark from Kevin Hernandez (San Juan, P.R. / Colegio San Jose). Southern N.H. stole the momentum before the Hounds' second half comeback, scoring two goals just over three minutes apart within the final six minutes of the first half. The second of Southern N.H.'s goals came off of a free kick that took place because of a yellow card.

INSIDE THE NUMBERS:

-The Hounds held a 16-14 shot advantage, producing six shots in the first half and 10 in the second. They also held a 7-3 advantage in corner kicks, producing three in the first half and four in the second half.

-Hernandez has now scored in each of his last three games. His three goals so far this season also marks a new career-high for Hernandez, who scored three goals in 16 games last year.

-Sebastian Jimenez (Naples, Fla. / Gulf Coast High School) made five saves, including one diving stop after being pulled out of position, and improved to 5-1-0 on the year. Brian Murray made five saves for the Penmen, but fell to 1-1-1 on the year.

-The Last time the Hounds defeated Southern N.H. was back in 2007, a 4-1 win on October 19. The Hounds were 0-11-0 since.

-With the win, the Hounds tied the all-time consecutive win streak in the program's history by winning five straight games. The last time the team did so was in 2009 when the team won five straight to begin their season 5-1-0. That team finished the year 9-6-3.
