THE BASICS:

-The Lead: In a physical battle between two Worcester area teams, the Assumption Greyhounds defeated the Anna Maria AMCATS 4-1 on a snowy Saturday night. The Hounds have now won their last three contests.

HOW IT HAPPENED:

-The Hounds scored three straight goals in the third period, all within 2:22 of each other, including two power play goals and one empty netter. After Anna Maria tied the game at one at the 13:05 mark of the third period, Dante Maribito (Georgetown, Mass. / Phillips Academy (Prep)) put the Hounds up for good just 3:29 later, scoring one the power play at the 16:34 mark. Robert Roche (Holden, Mass. / Tri City Storm (USHL)) then put the Hounds up by two, 3-1, at the 18:08 mark. Sean O'Connell (Stoneham, Mass. / Phillips Academy (Prep)) added an empty net goal 48 seconds later while on the power play, making it 4-1 Assumption.

-Robert Holyoke (Middleboro, Mass. / South Shore Kings (USPHL Premier)) scored the first goal of the game at the 13:14 mark of the second period. He gathered in the puck thanks to a richochet off an Anna Maria player and sent it through a screen in front of the net and in for a 1-0 Assumption lead. Sam Cyr-Ledoux scored the AMCATS' lone goal in the third period.

INSIDE THE NUMBERS:

-Assumption outshot the AMCATS 35-29. Anna Maria went 0-for-4 while on the power play and the Hounds went 2-for-6.

-Holyoke led the team with one goal and one assist. Saturday marked his fifth multiple-point game of the season and five points in his last three games. He has eight goals and four assists for 12 points in all this season.

-Devan Sheth (Ashland, Mass. / Islanders Hockey Club (USPHL Premier)) continued his point streak by adding one assist against the AMCATS. He has at least one point in each of his last four games and has totaled eight in all. Roche and Maribito have both scored in back-to-back games, each adding one goal in their team's 6-1 win over Framingham St.

-Drew Benedict (Cooper City, Fla. / Charlotte Rush (USPHL)) anchored the team in net, making 28 saves on 29 shots, improving to 1-0-1 on the year. Julius Huset made 31 saves on 34 shots, but fell to 5-3-2.
