HOW IT HAPPENED:
- The Hounds scored the very first basket with a jumper from Meghan Reen (Norwood, Mass./Norwood) and later had a three from Emme Poulin (South Portland, Maine/Cheverus) to put the Hounds up 5-2. Adelphi answered with a 15-point run forcing Assumption to take a timeout just before the four-minute mark. The Panthers came out and ended the first quarter with a 9-0 run to take a 27-5 lead after ten minutes of play.
- Reen started the second quarter similar to the first with a jumper just seconds into play only to have the Panthers respond just eight seconds later. Assumption then put together a 10-0 run led by four different Hounds to get within 11 with 6:45 left in the half. Adelphi slowed down the Hounds' momentum with a three and the two teams traded baskets with no one scoring more than four-points consecutively the remainder of the half with the Panthers leading 48-29.
- The Panthers opened the second half with nine straight points with the Hounds not getting on the board until the 3:25 mark with a three from Brianna Capacchione (Washington Township, N.J./Washington Township). Capacchione and Anna Shaughnessy (Attleboro Falls, Mass./Bishop Feehan) later paired up to earn four consecutive points to make the score 60-36 with 1:46 left in the third quarter. The quarter ended with a basket for each team to head into the final ten minutes with Adelphi ahead 65-40.
- Poulin scored the first bucket of the fourth quarter just over 30 seconds in and ended a four-point run from the Panthers with a three at the 5:17 mark. Assumption put together a 7-0 run to put the game at 75-54 in favor of the Panthers with 2:17 on the clock.
