-The Lead: The Assumption College women's basketball team fell to the Ravens of Franklin Pierce University in a Northeast-10 Conference contest on Tuesday night. Prior to the game the Greyhounds recognized three graduating seniors, playing in their final regular-season home game: Brianna Capacchione (Washington Township, N.J. / Washington Township), Katherine Golden (Millis, Mass. / Millis), and Brittani LeBlanc (Townsend, Mass. / North Middlesex Regional).

HOW IT HAPPENED

-Assumption outscored the Ravens 17-13 in the first quarter. Capacchione added eight points in the first ten minutes, including a 2-for-2 showing from beyond the arc, to lead the Hounds. Sophomore Izzy Lipinski went 3-for-7 from field goal range to put up six points for Franklin Pierce in the first quarter.

-Assumption pulled ahead by seven with 3:59 on the clock in the second quarter when Capacchione knocked down a jumper, 26-19. Sophomore Lisa Sulejmani and her classmate Emma Carter hit back-to-back three-pointers to bring the visitors within one at the 2:37 mark, 26-25. Franklin Pierce edged Assumption in scoring, 14-13 in the second quarter as the Hounds took a 30-27 advantage into the halftime break.

-The Ravens took over the lead with 6:36 on the clock with a drive to the basket by Sulejmani, 35-34. Assumption used four points from sophomore Emme Poulin (South Portland, Maine / Cheverus High School) and four points from Capacchione in the final four minutes of the third to take a 46-40 lead heading into the final period.

-Franklin Pierce came out on a seven-point run to regain the lead at the 8:03 mark in the fourth, 47-46. The game saw a total of five lead changes and two ties in the final seven minutes as the Ravens outscored Assumption 19-11 and came out on top, 59-57.

INSIDE THE NUMBERS

-Assumption was led by Capacchione who put up a game-leading 20 points. She added four rebounds, three assists, and four steals in the setback. Poulin finished the night with 15 points as she went 3-for-6 from behind the arc. Junior Temi Falayi (Peabody, Mass. / St. Mary's) finished with nine points and 11 rebounds.

-Carter finished the night with a double-double for Franklin Pierce as she put up 10 points and grabbed 10 rebounds. Sulejmani led the visitors with 19 points and added seven rebounds in the victory. Lipinski rounded out double-digit scoring with 16 points.

-Assumption shot 33.9% (21-for-62) from the field, while going 5-for-18 from three-point range. Franklin Pierce shot 50.0% (27-for-53) from field goal range and went 5-for-10 from beyond the arc. The Hounds were 71.4% from the free-throw line (10-for-14).

-Franklin Pierce outrebounded Assumption 42-30. Assumption forced the Ravens to turn over the ball 23 times and scored 20 points off those.

-The game saw a total of five ties and 12 lead changes.

UP NEXT

-Assumption earned the No. 5 seed in the NE10 Northeast division and will travel to Pace on Friday, February 28th. Game time is TBD.
