The Lead: The Assumption University men's soccer team continued their 2021 season on Saturday in an NE10 matchup at Le Moyne. The Dolphins scored early and often including four goals in the first half. The hosts tacked on another in the second half to create the 5-0 final.

HOW IT HAPPENED

-Le Moyne started the scoring early with a goal in the eighth minute from Noah Sperduto, taking a cross  from Jack Goodrich and beating senior goalie Tony Abdulky (Worcester, Mass. / Doherty) with a header giving the hosts the lead.

-The Dolphins scored two minutes later to pad their lead in the 10th minute when Brett Stern beat Abdulky.

-The Dolphins extended their lead to three in the 14th minute when Michael Sparkes raced down the left side of the field and fired a shot to beat the goalie for a 3-0 lead.

-Le Moyne tacked another on with 30 seconds left in the first half by winning a foul in a dangerous area in the Assumption half. Robert Rohrhirsch stepped up to take the free kick and fired a low shot to the right to send the home side into the half up 4-0.

-Le Moyne created the 5-0 final in the 65th minute when Rohrhirsch received a pass over the top of the Hounds defense and put it past George Dixon IV (East Bridgewater, Mass. / East Bridgewater).

INSIDE THE NUMBERS

-The Dolphins registered 25 shots on the day with 14 on target while the Hounds managed 11 shots with six on target.

-Abdulky made eight saves and Dixon IV made one. For Le Moyne, Josh Mahr made six saves.

-The Dolphins took six corners on the day while the Hounds won three.
