HOW IT HAPPENED
-Assumption outshot Pace 4-0 in the first period and was awarded three penalty corners. The Setters defense held strong to keep the two teams tied 0-0 heading into the second period.
-The Setters got on the board first, scoring three minutes into the second stanza. They were awarded a penalty corner and the ball found the stick of Krista Dietz who passed it off to Danielle Merante who lifted it up and over the right hand of Assumption goalkeeper, Kylie Gargiulo (Madison, Conn. / Daniel Hand), for the 1-0 lead.
-With one minute remaining in the first half the Greyhounds capitalized on a penalty corner to tie the game 1-1. Summer Walsh (South Yarmouth, Mass. / Dennis-Yarmouth Regional) inserted the ball up to Jenna Graf (Ballston Lake, N.Y. / Shenendehowa) at the top of the circle and Graf fired a shot in that was redirected to the back of the net by Deirdre Burchill (Braintree, Mass. / Braintree) for the score. Both teams put up two shots in the second period and Pace was awarded three penalty corners to Assumption's one as they headed into the break tied, 1-1.
-The Greyhounds edged the Setters 3-2 in shots taken in the third period. Assumption was awarded three penalty corners and Pace was awarded two, but neither team could finish as they headed into the final stanza tied 1-1.
-Graf netted the game winner for the Greyhounds with just under five minutes to go in the fourth period. Assumption was awarded a penalty corner and Walsh inserted it to Graf who fired it straight to the back of the net for the 2-1 final victory.
