-The Lead: The Assumption University women's basketball team continued their 2021-22 season on Tuesday night with a conference matchup versus the Owls of Southern Connecticut State. The Hounds had their highest scoring game of the year and led the game the whole way, winning in convincing fashion.
HOW IT HAPPENED
-Marina Callahan (Burlington, Mass. / Burlington) had eight points in the first quarter including hitting two three pointers to lead the Hounds in the first frame over the Owls 15-14. That would be the closest the margin would be between the two teams.
-Lauren Hammersley (Garden City, N.Y. / Our Lady of Mercy Academy) would score 11 points off the bench in the second quarter going 3-3 from beyond the arc and would finish the game with 14 points.
-The Hounds would head into the half with a 40-25 lead.
-Meghan Cramb (New Boston, N.H. / Bishop Guertin) would hit two three pointers to open up the third quarter on her way to leading the Hounds with 16 points.
-First year Kaijhe Hall (Maplewood, N.J. / Columbia) would score six straight points for Assumption in the third quarter.
-Callahan would finish the game with a double double consisting of 14 points and 10 rebounds while also having five assists.
-Jessica Fressle would lead the Owls with a double double with 16 points and 14 rebounds.
INSIDE THE NUMBERS
-Assumption was 25-69 (36.2%) shooting on the day while the Owls went 18-56 (32.1%)
-The Hounds won the rebound battle 49-41.
