THE BASICS

-Score: Neumann University 7, Assumption University 1

-Records: Assumption University (4-7-1, 1-3 NE10), Neumann (6-6-1, 2-3-1-1)

-Location: Worcester, Mass. (Worcester Ice Center)

-The Lead: The Assumption University men's ice hockey team continued their season on Tuesday afternoon with their second matchup vs Neumann. The Knights scored three goals in the first and scored three on the powerplay to overwhelm the Hounds. 

HOW IT HAPPENED

-Neumann opened the scoring nine minutes into the first on a powerplay goal when Barry Kneedler fired a shot on net that was tipped in by Nick Martino. 

-Kneedler scored three minutes later when his initial shot rang off the post and then was able to get a bounce in the Assumption slot and fired a wrist shot past Drew Benedict (Cooper City, Fla. / Charlotte Rush) to give the Knights a 2-0 lead. 

-Joe Digiulio extended the Knights lead to 3-0 with two minutes left in the first when he banked a shot from below the goal line and banked it off of Benedict and in.

-Tyler Kulas added to the Knights lead three minutes into the second when Hunter Litman fed him with a one timer in front of the crease and Kulas buried it past Thomas McLarnon (Fountainville, Penn. / New Hampton) to push the lead to 4-0. 

-Dante Maribito (Georgetown, Mass. / Phillips Academy) scored a powerplay goal with five minutes left in the second when he powered through the neutral zone and went hard to the net and beat Kyle Pantalone to get the Hounds on the board.

-Barry Kneedler scored his second of the game, this time coming from the powerplay when Evan Hoey received a pass on the goal line and snapped a pass to Kneedler who was open on the far post and tapped it in to give the Knights a 6-1 lead.

-Kneedler finished off the hat trick just two minutes later, again on the powerplay when Nick Martino drifted into the slot and found Kneedler down low and Kneedler chipped it into the net to create the 7-1 final. 

INSIDE THE NUMBERS

 -Assumption held the advantage in shots 29-27.

-Neumann won the faceoff battle 31-25.

-Assumption was 1-1 on the powerplay while Neumann was 3-6.

-The Hounds are back in action on Friday night with a Northeast-10 Conference matchup versus Saint Michaels. Puck drop is set for 7:00pm.
