Women's Soccer Soars Past Southern Connecticut, 2-0

WORCESTER, Mass. – Kate Carleson tallies a goal and adds an assist as the Assumption University women's soccer team picks up a 2-0 win over Southern Connecticut State University in Northeast-10 action Saturday afternoon.

HOW IT HAPPENED
Assumption displayed control from the opening whistle, as the Greyhounds outshot their opposition 14-1 in the opening 45 minutes. Kate Carleson got AU on the board early as she corralled a loose ball in the box and drove it into the back of the cage.
The game would remain 1-0 in favor of the hosts until the 82nd minute when Carleson centered the pass into the middle of the box, where she found the foot of Haley Brown, who put the Greyhounds up 2-0.

INSIDE THE NUMBERS
  • Julia Walsh recorded three saves for Assumption.
  • The Greyhounds outshot the Owls 17-8 while also having three corner kicks to SCSU's two.
  • Southern Connecticut still leads the all-time series 14-9-4.
