RENTON, Washington. – The Assumption University field hockey season came to a close in the NCAA Division II National Semifinals, as the No. 4 seeded Greyhounds fell to No. 1 East Stroudsburg University, 3-0 at Renton Memorial Stadium.

HOW IT HAPPENED
Assumption started with the ball and got the first scoring opportunity, as they were awarded a penalty corner just 26 seconds into the contest with a shot from
Chloe Kaeller. East Stroudsburg controlled most of the action for the remainder of the first half. The Warriors outshot the Greyhounds 8-2 through 30 minutes, but the Blue and White defense stood firm as the game went to halftime tied at 0-0.
ESU broke through on the scoreboard at the beginning of the third quarter, as Olivia Breen opened the scoring off of a penalty corner. The Warriors added another score before the end of the third, putting East Stroudsburg up 2-0 after three. After the Warriors added another goal late, the Greyhounds threatened a few times but could not find the back of the cage.
INSIDE THE NUMBERS
- Kylie Gargiulo recorded five saves for the Greyhounds
- East Stroudsburg outshot Assumption 15-5, while the Warriors had three penalty corners to just one for the Greyhounds.
- Chloe Kaeller, Christina Leonard, Mia Salah, and Liz Zenevitch recorded shots for AU
- Over the past two seasons, Assumption compiled a 35-8 overall record, with a 20-2 record at home.
- This is the second straight year that the Greyhounds fell in the NCAA Division II Semifinals.
- East Stroudsburg now leads the all-time series 4-2.
