THE BASICS

-Records: Assumption University (13-12-2, 10-7-1 NE10), Stonehill College  (6-18-2, 3-12-2 NE10)

-Location: Worcester, Mass.  (Worcester Ice Arena)

-The Lead: The Assumption University men's ice hockey team continued their season on Wednesday afternoon with a regular season finale and Northeast 10 conference matchup verus the Skyhawks of Stonehill College. The Hounds scored first and put up two big insurance goals in the third to end the regular season with a win.  

HOW IT HAPPENED

-Dante Maribito (Georgetown, Mass. / Phillips Academy) opened the scoring in the first with Assumption on the penalty kill when he was floating around the neutral zone area and got a turnover and took it to the Skyhawks end and put his shot past Chase McKay to give the Hounds a 1-0 lead. 

-With under a minute left in the first the Skyhawks were given a penalty shot but David Altman (Bristol, R.I. / Northern Cyclones) made the save on the attempt and kept the Hounds up 1-0 headed into the break. 

-Stonehill tied the game a minute into the second when Jake Cady scored after a scramble in in front of the net to tie the game at 1-1. 

-Maribito scored his second of the game in the third period and Devan Sheth (Ashland, Mass. / Islanders Hockey Club) added a powerplay goal to push the Hounds lead to 3-1 and secure a victory in the regular season finale. 

INSIDE THE NUMBERS

-Assumption outshot the Skyhawks 35-26. 

-The Hounds won the faceoff battle 27-24. 

-Altman made 25 saves and picked up the win improving his record to 9-6-2. 

UP NEXT  

-The Hounds earned the third seed in the upcoming NE10 playoffs. The Hounds will host sixth seed Franklin Pierce on Saturday, February 26. Puck drop is set for 7:30pm.
