-The Lead: The Assumption University men's ice hockey team continued their season on Saturday afternoon on the backend of a home and home versus Saint Anselm College. The Hawks jumped out to a 4-0 lead after the first two periods on two powerplay goals and got their advantage as big as five, with the Hounds getting two back early in the third but the Hawks would net another halfway through the third to create the 6-2 final.
HOW IT HAPPENED
-The Hawks started the scoring halfway through the first with Andrew Andary scoring on an assist from Mark Blaney.
-Killian Hammersmith scored on the powerplay with Mark Leach and Matt Hayes getting the helpers.
-The Hawks pushed their lead to 3-0 with two minutes to go in the first when Hunter Brackett put his shot post David Altman (Bristol, R.I. / Northern Cyclones)
-Saint A's pushed their lead to 4-0 when Matt Hayes scored on the powerplay when he put home a pass from Tommy Schwartz.
-Andary scored his second of the game, this time shorthanded when Andrew Andary pushed the hosts lead to 5-0.
-The Hounds got one back on the powerplay when John Pigott (Arlington, Mass. / Tilton School) scored on an assist from Devan Sheth (Ashland, Mass. / Islanders Hockey Club)
-Senior Michael Zampanti (Winthrop, Mass. / Islanders Hockey Club) made his return from injury and scored in his first game back on an assist from Jimmy McDermott (Dubuque, Iowa/ North Iowa Bulls).
-Saint A's created the 6-2 final when Hammersmith scored on an assist from Jac Cordeiro and Matt Hayes.
