NORTH ANDOVER, Mass. – Freshman Tre'Sean Bouie (Philadelphia, Pa.) won the 400-meter dash and senior Joseph Santos (Warwick, R.I.) broke his own school record in the 110-meter high hurdles as the Assumption University men's track & field program placed fifth among five schools with 67.5 points at the Merrimack Alumni Classic on Thursday afternoon.
Bouie captured the 400 by navigating the track in 49.54 seconds. He also placed fourth overall and first among NCAA Division II student-athletes in the 200 by crossing the line in 22.34. Santos, meanwhile, lowered his own school record in the 100 hurdles for hitting the tape in 14.90.
Other notable performances were made by the 4x100-meter relay team and senior Joseph Jepsen (Sutton, Mass.) in the field. The 4x100-meter relay consisting of junior Dante Echeandia (North Kingstown, R.I.), Bouie, junior Martin McMahon (Worcester, Vt.), and sophomore Kobe Anderson (Hartford, Conn.) circled the track in 42.72, while Jepsen finished fourth in the high jump for clearing six feet.
Assumption will next trek to UMass Lowell to compete at the George Davis Invitational on Saturday, April 23rd.
