NORTH EASTON, Mass. – Freshman Tre'Sean Bouie (Philadelphia, Pa.) scored in three different events in leading the Assumption University men's track & field team to a seventh-place finish among 10 schools with 37 points at the Northeast-10 Conference Championships being hosted by Stonehill on Saturday.
Southern Connecticut State ran away with the team crown by racking up 269 points. American International College was second with 128 points, while New Haven (124.5) and Franklin Pierce (106) completed the top four.
Bouie first teamed up with junior Dante Echeandia (North Kingstown, R.I.), classmate Martin McMahon (Worcester, Vt.), and sophomore Kobe Anderson (Hartford, Conn.) to comprise a 4x100-meter relay which punched in a sixth-place time of 42.83 seconds. He then placed second in the 400-meter dash in 48.34 seconds as well as sixth in the 200 in 22.22.
Other notable Greyhound performances on the track were made by Joseph Santos (Warwick, R.I.), senior Kyle Belmonte (Charlton, Mass.), and a pair of student-athletes competing in the 3,000-meter steeplechase. Santos finished second in the 110 hurdles in 14.69 and Belmonte was sixth in the 400 hurdles by navigating the track in 57.86. Senior Riley Brackett (Wakefield, Mass.) and sophomore Davis Preston (Ayer, Mass.) were seventh and eighth in the steeplechase with times of 10:57.23 and 11:04.08, respectively.
In the field, the Greyhounds got additional scoring from junior Max Paolino (Foster, R.I.) and senior Samuel Baker (Bedford, Mass.). Paolino was eighth in the shot put by recording a toss that sailed 46-feet, 4.75-inches, while Baker was seventh in the triple jump with a mark of 42-9.50.
Assumption will next send select student-athletes to Central Connecticut State to compete at the New England Championships.
