Connolly Leads Women's Soccer Past Bentley, 3-1

WALTHAM, Mass. – A goal and an assist by Rose Connolly is enough, as the Assumption University women's soccer team picked up a 3-1 Northeast-10 win over Bentley University Wednesday afternoon.

THE BASICS
Score: Assumption University 3, Bentley University 1
Records: Greyhounds (2-1-2, 1-1-0 NE10) | Falcons (1-2-2, 0-1-0 NE10)

HOW IT HAPPENED
Assumption started the scoring as Rose Connolly recorded her first collegiate goal at the 33:09 marker. Connolly would drive home the loose ball off the Morgan Paquin free kick. Eight minutes later, Kate Carleson doubled the Greyhounds' lead as she went coast-to-coast , beat three Bentley defenders draped on her, and scored with a rocket of a shot from the top of the penalty box.
Three minutes into the second half, Annie Irwin pushed the Blue and White lead to three goals, as she tallied her first of the year. At the top of the box, Irwin cut to the center of the box and fired a right-footed shot into the top left corner of the goal. The Falcons would not go quietly, as Brooke Jones scored on a penalty kick in the 86th minute, but the Greyhounds would come away with a 3-1 road win.
