WORCESTER, Mass. – The Assumption University women's volleyball team fell in straight sets against the University of New Haven, as the Greyhounds move to 1-1 in Northeast-10 Conference action following the Tuesday result in
Laska Gymnasium.

Records: Greyhounds (6-5, 1-1 NE10), Chargers (8-7, 3-0 NE10)
HOW IT HAPPENED
Assumption jumped out to an early lead in the opening set, as they grabbed the first two points of the contest. New Haven responded with a flurry of points to take their first lead of the match at 7-6. The two teams would continue to trade points, but with the Greyhounds leading 11-9, the Chargers would rattle off nine-straight points to go up 17-11. Assumption made a late run, but UNH would take the first set 25-18.
In the second set, the two teams would continue to trade points early in the frame. Neither side would gain a true lead until the score was 14-13 in favor of the visitors. New Haven would go on a 10-3 run to go up 23-16, but the lead was too great to overcome, and the Chargers would take the second set 25-19.
The University of New Haven snatched control early into the third set, as they went up 12-4. Assumption would get within six points on multiple occasions, but the Chargers refused to back down and took the final set 25-15.
INSIDE THE NUMBERS
- Goodhue led the way attacking for Assumption, putting together 11 total kills.
- Calderin had 13 assists to lead the Greyhounds, with Brandi Montoya and Sophia Noel chipping in four.
- Defensively, Montoya was in charge with 14 digs.
- New Haven still leads the all-time series 18-0
