WORCESTER, Mass. – The Assumption University football team had timely turnovers as they picked up a 38-14 Northeast-10 Conference win over American International College on Saturday afternoon at Brian Kelly '83 Stadium.

HOW IT HAPPENED
Assumption completely controlled entirely in the first quarter, as they outgained American International College 131-29. Cady put the Greyhounds on the board first, as he connected with
Gavin Johnson from eight yards out on the team's first drive of the game. After a three-and-out, Nicholas Chodak connected from 30 yards out, pushing the home advantage to 10-0 after the first quarter.
In the second quarter, AIC attempted a 26-yard field goal, but
Joseph MacDougall blocked it, and it was returned by
Shakeer McPherson 86 yards for a score. The Yellow Jackets got on the board with 3:01 remaining in the first half, as Lukas Kasko found Fatir Bell for a 41-yard touchdown pass, making it 17-7 at the half.
Coming out of the break, the Greyhounds saw
James Henderson (16-yard run) and Johnson (35-yard pass) find the endzone, extending the Assumption advantage to 31-7 halfway through the third quarter. AIC would not go quietly as Kasko connected with Omari Hutchinson for a 21-yard score, cutting the deficit to 31-14.
Jake Cady took the read option for a 50-yard scamper on the following possession, making it 38-14. Neither team would find a point in the fourth quarter, but
Joshua Loureiro picked off a pass and returned it 68 yards to help secure the 38-14 win for the Greyhounds.
INSIDE THE NUMBERS
- Jake Cady went 12-for-21 for 136 passing yards with two touchdowns, adding 74 yards on the ground and one score.
- James Henderson was the lead back for the Greyhounds, as he had 18 carries for 97 yards and a touchdown. Berrell Neal added 72 yards, and Kameron Robbins chipped in 21 yards.
- Gavin Johnson was the top target for Assumption, as he hauled in three receptions for 64 yards and two touchdowns. Baley Collier had four catches for 23 yards, while Cameron Reagan had two receptions for 25 yards.
- Tyler Royall had a team-high eight tackles, while Roderick Boyd and Lorenzo Valencia added five stops. Joshua Loureiro and Royall had interceptions, while Joseph MacDougall stuffed the stat sheet with two tackles, eight hurries, three breakups, and another blocked kick.
- AIC still leads the all-time series 15-11, while the Greyhounds have won the last eight meetings.
