BOSTON, Mass. – The Assumption University men's indoor track and field team sits in fourth place after the first day of the 2023 Northeast-10 Conference Championships at the Track at New Balance, while the women's side sits eighth.
DAY ONE RESULTS
Preliminaries
Chase Gagnon opened the day with a qualification for the finals in the men's 60m hurdles, as his time of 9.02 slotted him eighth after the two heats.
Anthony Spignese finished seventh in the men's 60m, running a 7.05. In the men's 400m,
Tre'Sean Bouie qualified for the final, as he won heat two with a time of 49.31, fourth overall.
Peri Lynn Snow was the first to qualify on the women's side, as her time of 2:19.16 in the 800m put her fifth and into the finals tomorrow. In the men's 800m,
Colby Medeiros also finished fifth overall, despite having the second-fastest time of all the heats (1:54.59).
Bouie qualified for his second final, finishing fourth in the men's 200m (21.86), while Spignese (22.15) took sixth.
Finals
Claudio Rocha picked up the first top finish for the Greyhounds as he topped the field of 20 in the men's 5000m with a time of 14:57. 42.
Joseph Carroll (4
th, 15:25.34),
Evan Clark (7
th, 15:44.49), and
Christian Surette (8
th, 15:48.95) all finished in the top eight in the field, as the quartet racked up 20 points for Assumption.
The Greyhounds finished seventh in the women's 4000m medley relay, as the grouping of
Lilit Kevorkian,
Leah Plummer, Rose Connelly, and
Cassidy Elliot finished with a time of 13:53.94. The men's 4000m medley relay also finished seventh, as
Charles Driscoll,
Brendan Polles,
Davis Preston, and
Jackson Terenzi finished in 10:46.53.
In the field section,
Madison Lupino finished fourth in the women's weight throw, as she tossed 13.88m (45' 6").
Yoofi Abaka-Amuah took fourth in the men's weight throw, as he had a final throw of 16.47m (54' 0").
Audrey Strmiska (2,561) took sixth place in the women's pentathlon
Caitlyn Rooney (2,380) finished in seventh.
Noah Laren is currently sitting in seventh place (2,094) in the men's heptathlon, through four events.
