WORCESTER, Mass. - The third NCAA Regional women's basketball rankings have been released. No. 19/20 Assumption University holds the top spot and is one of six Northeast-10 teams under consideration in the East Region.

In addition to Assumption (24-4 overall, 16-4 NE10), the other NE10 schools include Le Moyne (21-6, 16-4 NE10), Southern New Hampshire (20-6, 15-5 NE10), Bentley (19-9, 14-6 NE10), Southern Connecticut (17-11, 11-9 NE10), and New Haven (17-10, 12-8 NE10).
Assumption (24-4, 16-4 NE10), who is scoring 63.4 points per game, is defeating their opponents by an average of 13.2 points. The Greyhounds also rank in the top 25 nationally in the following categories: scoring defense (1st – 50.1), field goal defense (1
st – 32.9), three-point defense (3
rd – 24.4), fouls per game (15
th – 13.5), and scoring margin (25
th – 13.5).
Junior
Molly Stokes leads the team in scoring (11-7), while
Amanda Mieczkowski (9.9),
Ja'Lyn Armstrong (9.4),
Marina Callahan (9.1), and
Monica Spain (8.6) average eight points per game or more. Spain (6.4) and Callahan (5.2) are joined by Armstrong (4.1), Mieczkowski (4.5), who averages four rebounds per game, while Mieczkowski (3.5), Spain (2.5), and
Ja'Lyn Armstrong (2.0) pace the offense with two assists.
The Greyhounds will be back at Laska Gymnasium on Thursday, March 2, at 7:00 pm, as they host Southern New Hampshire University for the Northeast-10 Conference Semifinals.
The Division II Women's Basketball Championship provides for a maximum field of 64 teams. There will be 23 automatic bids (awarded to the champion of each Division II all-sports conference) and 41 at-large bids.
